Zakopane's best times begin after 1890....
History | Elinek Villa.

The history of Villa Elinek begins in the year 59 of XX century. It was also the year in which the city of Zakopane was entrusted with the organisation of the Nordic World Ski Championships. The villa and the championships were connected by location. Facilities for competitors and guests of the championships were built on opposite slopes of Antałówka.
During the FIS World Championships on 21 February 1962 on Średnia Krokiew, the silver medal for Poland was won by Antoni Łaciak, and the competition was probably watched by the villa's first owners, Mr and Mrs Dobraczyński.

Why Willa ELINEK?
Jan Dobraczyński

Villa Elinek was built by the well-known writer and publicist Jan Dobraczyński, who realised his family's dream of having their own house in Zakopane. Dobraczyński, the author of many historical and religious novels such as The Shadow of the Father and Nicodemus' Letters, was not only a literary man, but also a social activist and a member of parliament. His work, deeply rooted in Christian values, won wide recognition in Poland, and he played a significant role in shaping Catholic intellectual life in the 20th century.
The house in Zakopane, which for many years served his family as a summer oasis of peace, provided the writer with a respite from the hustle and bustle of Warsaw. The villa became a place where Dobraczyński could devote himself to creative work, contemplation and rest. The villa was named after one of his daughters, who was affectionately called Elinek. For the writer, the house in the heart of the Tatra Mountains not only symbolised family ties, but also his deep love for nature and the charms of the Podhale region, which often inspired his work.

Revitalisation

A few years ago, the upstairs and attic underwent a major renovation. The interiors have been given a spacious new look, but have retained their original character with many traditional carpentry motifs.
